We went to Porto and Lisbon in May–June 2026. Here are some photos we took.

Porto
Some highlights: the endless, beautiful views; the Casa da Música for a free recital; the Museu de Serralves and its park; Bmacro, a macrobiotic/vegan restaurant, where seating is in the back garden; the artsy Rua de Miguel Bombarda (great magazine/record store, Materia Prima); the Galeria Municipal do Porto; the open-air bar/gallery, Maus Hábitos; the Parque de São Roque with its ‘maze’ and views; the charming beach town of Cascais; the beachside stroll at Praia do Cabedelo and maybe most of all, the Leçaodouro company boat tour that went under Porto’s bridges and then back again and out into the Atlantic.

Lisbon
A few highlights: the rooftop bar/gallery Zé dos Bois; the graffiti-covered Escadinhas de São Cristóvão stairs and the great view/bar near the top; the Museu do Design e da Moda in a former bank headquarters (great exhibitions of António Variações and protest artwork – posters, stickers…); the beach at Costa de Caparica — wear sunscreen!; a vegan food tour (Ao 26 AKA 26 Vegan Food Project was fantastic); speaking of restaurants, traditional Portuguese vegan spot Kong was great too; the Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian had some cool work and a nice park; a day trip to Sintra: Pena Palace is probably a must-see (technically), but the Moorish Castle was even cooler—they were hosting a techno party that night, shame it was sold out—and the National Palace was pretty nice as well, as was the Parque de Monserrate; and a day trip by ferry to Almada—an easy place to imagine yourself living, great views, cafés, shops, galleries…
